Orthopedic Massage

Capable of integrating a variety of massage’s most effective techniques in the treatment of soft tissue dysfunction, pain and injuries.  Four component parts characterize the system of orthopedic massage:  orthopedic assessment, matching the physiology of the tissue injury with the physiology effects of treatment, treatment adaptability, and understanding the rehabilitation protocol.

Neuromuscular/Trigger Point Massage

The application of pressure to certain hyper-irritable spots within the muscle to break cycles of spasm and pain.  Trigger points refer pain to other parts of the body in characteristic patterns.

Neuromuscular Microcurrent Point Stimulation

Used in combination with therapuetic massage, the “MPS” is a handheld single point “TENS” unit with a 9 volt battery, applied when appropriate, for pain-free release of muscle tension.

Myofascial Release Therapy

A form of bodywork that is manipulative in nature and seeks to rebalance the body by releasing tension in the fascia.  Long, stretching strokes are utilized to release muscular tension.

Medical Massage

Medical massage uses kinesiology, the study of movement, stretching and a blend of proven techniques to specifically address muscular tension.  Each session is customized to allow a slow deep pressure, working within each client’s comfort level.

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)

MLD is a gentle manual treatment technique which improves the activity of the lymph vessels by mild mechanical stretches on the wall of lymph collectors. MLD re-routes the lymph flow around the blocked areas into more centrally located lymph vessels that eventually drain into the venous system.

Essential Oils

Only 100% therapeutic, food grade essential oils are used for your massage.  These are blended for specific therapeutic results (such as muscle relaxation, stress-reduction, etc).  The center offers information about these 100% natural oils, “Man’s first remedies”, as well as oils, diffusers, lotions and soaps for purchase.

Deep Tissue Massage

Techniques used to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of the muscles, tendons and fascia.  It is called deep tissue, because it also focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

Craniosacral Therapy

A form of energy work, using a very light touch to gently release restrictions in the craniosacral system, encouraging the body’s own natural healing processes.  Client remains fully clothed for the treatment.
